Daffke Hollstein (*1974) ist ein in Berlin und Barcelona lebender Bild-Konstrukteur und Fotograf, Mitglied des Berufsverbands Bildender Künstler Berlin. Seine künstlerische Praxis umfasst Fotografie, Malerei und Videokunst. Theoretisch ist sie in der Tradition des Konstruktivismus verankert: Im Mittelpunkt steht nicht die Dokumentation, sondern die Konstruktion neuer Wirklichkeiten.
Seit 2012 bildet das Langzeitprojekt *Constructed Realities* das Kernstück seines Werks, in dem unterschiedliche Momente zu neuen Realitäten verschmolzen werden. 2013 proklamierte Hollstein den *Katastrophizismus* als eigenständige künstlerische Bewegung. Seit 2025 arbeitet er an *Im Nebel*, einem autobiografischen Langzeitprojekt über seine Post-Covid-Erkrankung.
Seine Arbeiten wurden international ausgestellt, u. a. in der Deutsche Bank Kunsthalle Berlin, bei Fotofever Paris, der Biennal de Fotografia Olot sowie in Galerien in Barcelona, Paris, Hollywood und Richmond/CA. 2016 wurde er für *Descubrimientos PhotoEspaña* und *Visionats Enfocats* ausgewählt.

Daffke Hollstein (b. 1974) is a *Bild-Konstrukteur* — image constructor — and photographer living in Berlin and Barcelona, a member of the Berufsverband Bildender Künstler Berlin (Professional Association of Visual Artists, Berlin). His practice spans photography, painting, and video art. It is theoretically anchored in the constructivist tradition: at its centre stands not documentation but the construction of new realities.
Since 2012, the long-term project *Constructed Realities* has formed the core of his work, in which distinct moments are fused into new realities. In 2013 Hollstein proclaimed *Catastrophicism* (Katastrophizismus) as an independent artistic movement. Since 2025 he has been working on *Im Nebel* (In the Fog), an autobiographical long-term project on his Post-Covid illness.
His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Deutsche Bank Kunsthalle Berlin, at Fotofever Paris, the Biennal de Fotografia Olot, and in galleries in Barcelona, Paris, Hollywood, and Richmond, CA. In 2016 he was selected for *Descubrimientos PhotoEspaña* and *Visionats Enfocats*.
He has published several artist's edition books.
