BESCHREIBUNG (DEUTSCH)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
34 Bildkonstruktionen in fünf Kapiteln: Einweisung, Station, Trommelfell, Ausgang, Sender.
Typografie: Big Shoulders Display, Source Serif 4, IBM Plex Mono.
Aufnahmen: Fujifilm X-half, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Fujifilm Instax Pal.
Wer ohne Quelle hört, hört alles. Wer ohne Quelle sieht, baut.

DESCRIPTION (ENGLISH)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Five days. A tone only one person hears: no transmitter, no source, no off.
WITHOUT SOURCE is an artist's book made from photographs I took during an inpatient stay at the Charité in Berlin, from 28 September to 2 October 2026. It is not reportage and not a hospital diary: no illness in the image and no image of the illness. It shows what an eye does when it cannot switch off: it orders. Planes, edges, folds of light, plumb line, loss of the plumb line.
Thirty-four image constructions in five chapters: Admission, Ward, Eardrum, Exit, Transmitter. Facade, grid and wedge, empty chairs, a dot on the wall, a golden disc on a firewall photographed three times at different hours, and in the end a red field of colour without contour. No consolation, no alarm. Becoming.
In the book, the prints keep the same proportions as in the exhibition RESTRAUSCHEN (RESIDUAL NOISE): from Instax mini to A4, plus two diptychs that run across the spread. The Instax small as a thought, the A4 large as a reproach. To turn the page is to step closer, step back, step closer. Between the images there are empty pages, the pause in which the tone keeps running.
Format: A5, 56 pages, self-published, printed on A4 at home, folded and stapled. Typography: Big Shoulders Display, Source Serif 4, IBM Plex Mono.
Photographed with: Fujifilm X-half, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Fujifilm Instax Pal.
Whoever hears without source hears everything. Whoever sees without source builds.
